Foundation: 2nd Annual Rosé Extravaganza: Wine Tasting Class with Spencer and Lynn
Over the past four years we have pushed in many different directions, in order to bring an entirely new perspective on wine for our local area. It is easy to forget the building blocks of wine education, and for this spring we are returning to them. Each class will focus on a specific variety, and explore where worldwide it is grown and vinified. We will start with the "International Varieties" so that we can showcase grapes that are almost common all over the world. Variation is what makes wine interesting so we will show you as many different styles of the same grape as we can. We thank all of our new attendees to our classes for reminding us that we need to get back to building a foundation. To repeat from last year : " If you don't like rosé this might be the one to skip." This class will be held in Mystic For more information

A Conversation with Artist Mohamad Hafez at the Yale Peabody Museum
A Conversation with Artist Mohamad Hafez at the Yale Peabody Museum
The artist and architect Mohamad Hafez channels the complexities of his homeland Syria in his art. Using found objects, paint and scrap metal, Hafez creates surrealistic Middle Eastern streetscapes that incorporate the ancient and the new in a kaleidoscope of detail and color. His art installation “Eternal Cities,” on display in the Yale Peabody Museum’s second floor gallery “Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia,” incorporates original ancient artworks, historic photography, and 3D replicas of objects—along with a few real ones— from Yale’s collection, vividly revealing multiple layers of history. On June 21, Hafez will come to the Peabody’s Central Gallery to share his thoughts about life, art, and food, among other topics, in a conversation with Agnete Lassen, curator of the Yale Babylonian Collection, who worked closely alongside the artist to realize his vision. Marcia Inhorn, William K. Lanman Jr. Professor of Anthropology and International Affairs, will introduce the event. For more information
