Stamford Acoustic Music Circle
Stamford Acoustic Music Circle
Hey fellow musicians! I’m Larissa and I’m the new organizer of the Acoustic Circle! Let’s keep this group going! I look forward to meeting you and making music together. The Greenwich Acoustic Music Circle (GAMC) is a monthly play/sing along jam for those interested in playing and singing acoustic rock. We welcome people at INTERMEDIATE levels of ability. Bring one PRE-1980's song and one POST-1980's song, in this way, we are not a traditional "folk music" circle. About half way through the evening, we take a break to eat/drink/mingle. It's simply an evening of sharing great songs with others in a friendly and supportive environment. For more information

June 18 through September 14, 2024. This public program is offered in conjunction with the NEQM exhibition, Kaleidoscope Quilts: Works by Paula Nadelstern. Admission is free of charge for members and included with the price of general admission for nonmembers. For over 35 years, quilt artist Paula Nadelstern has filtered her design inspiration through a kaleidoscopic lens. The result is a “personal quilt idiom relying on the design strategies that are the heartbeats of my quilts—symmetry and serendipity laced with abundant color.” In her presentation, Nadelstern includes the most recent quilts in her kaleidoscopic series, as well as images of her other patchwork fascination--simple quilts made from complex fabrics. BERES HAMMOND at College Street Music Hall
BERES HAMMOND at College Street Music Hall
Don’t be deceived by Beres Hammond’s cool profile. The playful smile, the unassuming demeanor, the beard and the cap and the spectacles might lull you into forgetting that you’re in the presence of an awesome musical talent, Jamaica’s greatest practicing singer/songwriter. Beres remains cool, though he knows that he’s one of a handful of people responsible for maintaining a mighty legacy of soulful reggae music—a select group of artists like Toots and Gregory, like Dennis and Bob. “Father bless me with a song,” he pleads on the last cut of his latest album, Music Is Life, “to make the whole world sing along. Regardless of the race, regardless of the taste.” In the year 2021, the blessings just keep coming, and the world is just starting to catch on. For more information

Max Creek at The Hygienic: New London
Max Creek at The Hygienic: New London
Hygienic Art welcomes back Max Creek Friday August 2nd! "In those rare instances that a band reaches its fifth decade, it’s usually a result of stardom. It’s easy enough to keep things together when each member has a jet and techs on retainer and the world tour rolls around every few years. But that’s not how Max Creek has done it. In 40+ years Max Creek has been small, big, regionally-huge, medium, and any other size one can think of; they’ve never graced the cover of Rolling Stone, but you’d be hard pressed to find a music fan in the Northeast that hadn’t heard of them." Advanced tickets $25 Gate $30 For more information
