In the early 19th century, the confident voices of a new generation of woman composers joined those of their male counterparts. Later that same century, they calmly bestrode the prominent Paris and London stages. New England and New York were witnesses to the dramatic increase in esteem in which colleagues and the public held the women who, through sheer talent, began to occupy stages and conservatory posts once reserved for men. The Neave Trio‘s elegant program reveals the fetching additions female composers and musicians have since made to the piano trio repertoire. This music is irresistible! It’s also ideal for the big Chickering concert grand, a Boston voice some of our brave, gifted women knew well.
