Lyme Academy of Fine Arts: FIGURE DRAWING – METHODS & MATERIALS OF THE BAROQUE & THE 18TH CENTURY

July 7 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$750
Instructor: Jon DeMartin
Dates:  July 7-11, 2025
Times: 9 am–4 pm (break 12–1 pm)

This five-day workshop aims to teach students to build a solidly constructed three-dimensional figure, as they progress from linework to modeling the form in light and shadow.

Students will study both short- and long-pose figure drawing in order to enhance their learning.  The long pose will allow the student to study the objectives for each phase of the figure’s development, beginning with the “action” and ending with the “modeling” of form with value.  The short pose will test the student’s capability to put into effect the principles learned in the long pose, in a shorter time frame.

The instructor will present material through demonstrations and historical references based on Baroque and 18th-century applications to life drawing.
