Chasing Mythic Beginnings: Virtual Workshop with The Poetry Society of New York

With so much chaos swirling about us in the present, perhaps casting a compassionate eye on the past offers us the gift of uncovering a heavy, pulsing truth. Maybe if we glance over our shoulders at our poetic beginnings, we might better uncover the essence of our shared existence. In this workshop, we will chase mythic starts and read creation poems as a form of medicine, allowing the language that births worlds and sculpts gods to guide us into new realms of understanding and writing. Together, we will dive into the lyricism of Rachel B. Glaser and Clarice Lispector, alongside the trembling power of The Popol Vuh, The Epic of Gilgamesh, and Cherokee myth as we venture into the sacred territory of fresh planets, first breath, and the rise of light.
