Zest Fresh Pastry

STONINGTON — Located in Stonington’s Velvet Mill, Zest is making some pretty cakes this year. A joyful chocolate mousse “Tree Stump”, a spiked eggnog Yule log and a light and fruity holiday pavlova.

Le Banh Patisserie

SIMSBURY — Pastry Chef Kim Hoàng Wood has a fresh take on holiday cakes, with a Noël Bánh, (Bánh is Vietnamese for cake). It’s a gingerbread cake, flavored with ginger and spice, sweetened with molasses, highlighted with lemon curd, and frosted mascarpone cream.

Sablé Granola Cereal, a playful take on Christmas breakfast with handmade cereal filled with mini sablé gingerbread people and Christmas trees, maple cinnamon granola clusters, and meringue kisses.

A traditional Bûche de Noël–French Joconde filled with praline buttercream and chocolate hazelnut coated with chocolate buttercream. Lots of tarts, bread and cookies as well!

Cocotte @ James Pharmacy

OLD SAYBROOK — Chef Jeffrey De Francesco packs the shelves in his French bistro Cocotte like a mini Bon Marché. If you are looking for great unusual gifts and stocking presents, edible or not, he has a fantastic array, from pretty tins of marrons glacé, and lovely Maldon salts, to signed copies of Jacques Pepin’s latest book and sleek, classic Opinel folding knives.  It’s a great place to have breakfast or lunch and do some fun shopping, French style.

For your holiday table, his croissant are spot on, and he has wide selection of pretty entremets and Bûche de Noël. Preorder Bûche de Noël by Dec. 18.

OLD SAYBROOK — Dagmar’s marzipan stolen is Christmas morning perfection, and she has a huge assortment of beautiful holiday cookies from the towering Kransekake, Linzer and gingerbread to her deliciously simple honey cookies. Bûche de Noël too.

NEW HAVEN — Atticus is making a splendid challah, chocolate cream pies, apple pies and a brioche pull-a-part loaf.

MIDDLETOWN — Tschudin’s makes eclectic chocolates using wonderful molds and unusual flavors. This year one of his holiday specialties is a fabulous planetary cake filled with a mango milk chocolate mousse. Preorder by Dec.18.

GUILFORD — This year Hen & Heifer has a beautiful selection for HOLIDAY 22, the Bûche de Noël, a tribute to chocolate, hazelnut, and caramel, a Pistachio Basque Cheese Cake, a Spice Cake and a Gâteau Breton aux Cerises as well as a number of bake at home coffee cakes.

Nana’s Mystic and Westerly

MYSTIC/WESTERLY — Nana’s is baking up their usual wonderful breads and bagels as well as a great looking eggnog cheesecake with cranberry preserves, a maple bourbon pecan pie, a classic chocolate cream pie, a flourless chocolate torte and a “Not Your Nana’s Fruit Cake”, as well as some very cute cookies. Preorder by 10pm on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Savour Café and Bakery

CENTERBROOK — Savour is adding flourless chocolate sponge and tiramisu Bûche de Noëls to their lineup, as well as an eggnog layer cake and a Gâteau St. Honoré.  They also have quite a few pretty things for tabletops and stockings. Preorder by Saturday, Dec. 17.

MYSTIC/EAST LYME — Sift has a new item this year, a Box of Christmas Ornament Entremets  made with sable cookies and white chocolate eggnog, chestnut, cranberry orange, chocolate peppermint, caramelized white chocolate, salted chocolate caramel, gingerbread, pistachio and cappuccino fillings. They also have a Gingerbread White Chocolate Cheesecake, and a Gingerbread White Chocolate Cheesecake. Last day to preorder is Dec.19.
