On Claims of Discrimination in Greenwich Schools

To be charitable, the video of Jeremy Boland, assistant principal at Cos Cob Elementary school is damning. It is also heavily edited, no doubt coaxed, and produced by a partisan political operative, James O’Keefe.

I’ll keep this short.

Over a few minutes worth of snippets, Boland manages to implicate himself — and by extension Greenwich Public Schools — in a variety of illegal, discriminatory, partisan and unethical actions.

Whether the video played “gotcha” or was recorded surreptitiously is immaterial, and no defense of such claims.

Some of actions that Boland managed to implicate the district in — for example, age discrimination regarding interviews and hiring — can be largely substantiated with a review of records.

Other statements implying partisanship and religious bias are far more insidious.

Unfortunately, Boland’s claims of acting despite or against the wishes of parents are entirely unsurprising.

We encourage anyone who has direct knowledge of any such behavior to contact us. By extension, it’s also hard for us to imagine a convincing reason for O’Keefe not to release the entirety of the footage.

We will be following up.
