In Yucatán, Mexico, where bullfighting is a tradition dominated by men, Elena María Ramírez defiantly dreams of becoming a torera. Raised alongside Tanok Cárdenas, the son of a celebrated matador, Elena grows up just outside the world she longs to enter. When her talent in the bullring becomes impossible to ignore, she begins training in secret, stepping into a journey of ambition, identity, and resistance. As Elena’s pursuit challenges the patriarchal order around her, both families must confront the roles they’ve inherited and the forces of class, gender, and desire that bind them. With striking visual poetry, Torera explores who gets to step into the ring — and what must be risked to get there.
