The Joy I Felt, New Paintings by Mike Glier opens on April 17 at the Barn.

“I’m making cut paper paintings these days and enjoying it. The papers are stained with acrylic paint, cut, arranged, disassembled and reassembled many times before they settle into an image. Color is so fresh when it is absorbed by paper: light penetrates the surface and bounces back carrying the color with it like water vapor carries a rainbow. I use shears and blades to draw into the colored paper, a process that condenses line, shape and color into a single thing.
The cut paper paintings are having their first outing at Downing Yudain Gallery this month. Opens April 17, 6-8 pm. The exhibition will be open by appointment April 18 to May 30. Don’t be shy about making an appointment”
