Sugar Ray and The Bluetones have been performing their unique style of blues for nearly 40 years. Their music blends various styles, including:
- Chicago Blues, inspired by artists like Muddy Waters and Little Walter.
- Kansas City Swing, influenced by Big Joe Turner and Billy Boy Arnold.
- Texas Blues, channeling T-Bone Walker and Freddie King.
- Louisiana Sounds, reminiscent of “Lazy” Lester.
Originally, they backed blues legends such as Otis Rush, Big Joe Turner, and Hubert Sumlin. Sugar Ray Norcia, the band’s frontman, is renowned for his powerful blues voice and masterful harmonica playing. He has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and received over 24 Blues Music Award nominations, winning two in 2014.
