DAVID DUNLOP- LIGHT FANTASTIC at Susan Powell Fine Art

We are honored to present new works from this versatile and award-winning artist. There will be an opening reception on Friday, May 10, from 5-8 pm. Meet David and join us for hors d’oeuvres and wine.
David Dunlop’s solo show Light Fantastic offers a visually transformative experience in this exciting exhibition of 29 new and adventurous works. David is a master of luminosity. His use of multi-layered translucent glazes, reflective metal surfaces and bright underpainting result in paintings that appear to possess their own inner light. He paints on copper, galvanized steel, and brushed gold and silver laminated aluminum which give his work the radiance of Dutch and Italian Renaissance paintings. Historically, artists have quested for luminance, and like Dunlop, wanted their works to glow in their settings, whether it be daylight or candlelight.
David will give a talk and painting demonstration in the gallery garden on Saturday, May 11, from 2-3 pm. David is well known for his lively and entertaining PBS series, Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop, and has lectured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
