from H&G UK:
Cressida Bell (born 1959) is an English artist and designer, specializing in textiles, interior design, cake decoration and illustration.
She is the daughter of critic, author and artist Quentin Bell and Anne Olivier Bell. She is the granddaughter of Vanessa Bell and great niece of Virginia Woolf. The Bell family is synonymous with Charleston, in England, former home of Cressida’s grandmother Vanessa Bell and artist Duncan Grant, and weekend retreat of the Bloomsbury Group (in the first half of the 20th century). As soon as Vanessa and Duncan moved in, they began to paint, not just on canvas, but over every available surface – walls, of course, but also tables, chairs, bed heads and bookcases; all glowed with swirls and spirals of color and pattern. A modern embodiment of the style can be found in the work of the artist Cressida Bell.
