“A Story Unfinished: Walk for Suicide Prevention,”: Sponsored by Mitchell College Students

April 14 @ 11:30 am

“A Story Unfinished: Walk for Suicide Prevention,” will be sponsored by Mitchell College students on Sunday, April 14.Many of those involved are seniors and will come together for the fourth year, after starting this walk in memory of their friend from Freshman year, Max Goldberg, and other close, hard losses that occurred in the same timeframe.

The walk is to support loved ones of those that have lost someone to suicide and those that are struggling. This is the third year that it is open to the community at large.

Registration begins at 11:30 am and the walk will commence at 1 pm from the Mitchell College Duques Academic Success Center, 437 Pequot Ave, New London, after a brief opening ceremony. If raining, then it will be help inside the center. Registrants are also encouraged to stay for a closing ceremony.

Registration is free, but donations are appreciated so that the MMMHAC can reach their goal of $5,000 to support The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Registrants can join the club team or register as an individual.

The club strongly supports AFSP’s message that “suicide can be preventable, and that no one is alone.” According to club president Kayla Vargas, “Together we strive to bring awareness, make sure no one feels alone, and end the stigma around mental health struggles one step at a time.”

If you have any questions, then please call Vargas at (860) 333-4032, or Club founder Tommy Simmons, at (631) 601-4876.
