Special Inland Wetlands Commission Old Lyme Public Hearing on Gravel Mining in the Wetlands

To all of the people that are passionately concerned about the well being of this beautiful town of Old Lyme, that we call home, There is the conclusion of a special Inland wetlands commission public hearing tomorrow night , Tuesday the 18th, 6:00 pm at town hall. It is in regards a gravel mining and landfill operation that has a decades long history of infractions, this incident concerns deliberate filling of wetlands, excavation and placement of large boulders in the river, and working within the 100′ upland review area with out a permit, this, the latest infraction has taken place only 15 months after the last cease and desist order was issued for the same thing. It has been stated This 45 acre parcel’s wetlands area is one of the most pristine wetlands areas in the state. the pictures below are real pictures that are a matter of public record. This river is part of a large aquifer that supports our drinking water, and it empties into Long Island Sound. This River needs your support, Please try to attend this meeting and show the commission that protecting the environment that we live in is important. Thank You.
