No Longer the Party of Bill Clinton or John Kennedy

 To the Editor:

It is a head-scratcher to listen to our Democrat friends grouse about Connecticut’s and the nation’s many problems. They complain ad nauseam about high taxes, crime (a result of Democrat pampering of criminals and the demonization of police), failed programs, open borders, and the crumbling of parental rights. They complain and then vote repeatedly for the same stale politicians who have created this mess. It makes no sense.

Our Democrat representatives, whom we have sent to Washington, have endorsed this administration’s agenda that has brought us out-of-control inflation (trillions of dollars in taxpayer-funded government programs) and the accompanying angst that has every citizen on edge.

Our state legislators are complicit in Connecticut’s state of the state. We have the dubious honor of being one of the least affordable states in the country; taxes, energy costs, and inflation have affected every citizen of Connecticut.  For those of us who have left the party because it is no longer the party of John Kennedy or Bill Clinton, we see a party where liberalism has lost its meaning.  The party of tolerance and compassion has morphed into a party of gluttonous governing where the average citizen becomes poorer, and the politicians have enriched themselves.  It has become a cash cow for politicians, and their family members.

And yet, our largely Democrat state continues to send the same old politicians to Hartford. IT MAKES NO SENSE. Einstein is credited with saying, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
