HARTFORD – State Rep. David Arconti, D-Danbury, said Wednesday that he will not be seeking re-election this fall to a sixth term representing the 109th House District.
Arconti, who serves as co-chair of the legislature’s Energy and Technology Committee, was first elected to represent the district that includes part of Danbury in 2012. Arconti said in a news release that he decided it was time to pursue other interests.
“I come from a very large and public-service minded family, and I’ve always been proud to carry on that tradition and to be the first member of my family to serve Danbury in the legislature, but hopefully not the last” Arconti said on the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
Arconti is the second member of the Energy and Technology Committee leadership who has announced they will not seek re-election this year. State Sen. Paul Formica, R-East Lyme, one of the ranking Republicans on that committee, announced in January that he will retire when his term ends this year.
