Connecticut Examiner, a 6-year-old online newspaper based in Old Lyme, took home 10 awards at the annual Excellence in Journalism Contest sponsored by the Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Top prizes went to Francisco Uranga for his interview of Cuban photojournalist Reynaldo Cruz, Fleeing Repression, Cuban Journalist Finds Asylum, New Life in Connecticut, and to Emilia Otte for her four-part series on special education.

The latest SPJ awards cap off a winning spring for CT Examiner, after taking home seven awards from the New England Newspaper and Press Association, and five more from the Connecticut Press Club.
