NEW LONDON – One person has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after a shootout near 194 Bank St. early Sunday morning, according to a police report.

Police responded to a report of a shooting on Bank St. at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday on morning. By the time police arrived, the incident had ended, but officers found shell casings and “projectile particles” in the roadway and sidewalk. A building and motorcycle was also struck by gunfire.

Police were told by witnesses that a shooting victim had been taken by another third party to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.
Following a lead on a vehicle suspected of involvement in the shooting, police went to an address in Montville, where evidence was seized. That address has not been released, but police say the shooting appears not to have been random.
Police have not confirmed the name of a victim identified on social media, and are asking for anyone with information on the shooting to contact the detective division at 860-447-1481.
