OLD LYME – The body of a 56-year-old man was found in the mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Lyme Monday night after an Silver Alert was issued earlier in the day, according to state police.

In a statement emailed to the CT Examiner, Trooper First Class Pedro A. Muniz said Troop F received a report at about 8:50 a.m. that David Hickie of Old Lyme was missing.

After an initial search was determined inconclusive, a Silver Alert was issued, Muniz said.

At approximately 7:25 p.m., he said, Old Lyme Fire Department along with officials from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to a report of a male body floating in the Connecticut River near Ferry Road.

Life saving measures were taken, he said, but were unsuccessful.

The body was later identified as Hickie and next of kin were notified, Muniz said.

Currently, he said, no crime appears to have been committed regarding Hickie’s death and the case remains under investigation.
