To the Editor:

Just a few days ago was the 21st anniversary of my arrival in the U.S., marking half of my life split between my country of origin, Poland, and the U.S.

Yes, the U.S. is my second homeland since February 8th!

So much changed for me that day. I could go on and on about it…but the main thing that excites me is my new superpower – the ability to vote in the U.S. elections. I now have a say over who will represent my family and me and who will have the power to impact our lives here in Groton and Stonington and in the whole country. I want to be sure that this person will have our backs because we have so much to lose and, indeed, so much to gain.

As a mom of two, wife, friend, neighbor, marine scientist, lover of nature, an active member of the community, and yes, now a voter, I look forward to seeing my neighbor and friend Aundré Bumgardner in Hartford.

Aundré and I share values, and I trust that upon securing a seat this November 8th, he will fight for us in the current situation, and for the future of our kids. Well, if you have any doubts, don’t, because he is already doing this work here in our local government, in the town of Groton. With that fire in his belly, Aundré will do great things at the state level!
