Ned Lamont and CT Democrats have failed Connecticut

In less than 2 months, Connecticut voters can bring about the change we so desperately need.

Connecticut families are struggling. Democrats have no plan to make Connecticut affordable, so they seek to blame Republicans for the anxiety that we are feeling. The reality is that Ned Lamont and Democrats have caused families tremendous aggravation and despair by rising prices at the grocery store, gas pump, and school supply aisles. Horrible fiscal policies by Democrats like Jahana Hayes, Joe Courtney, and Richard Blumenthal have driven Connecticut into a recession. Crime skyrockets, an open southern border exacerbates the opioid crisis, and the aftermath of a botched Afghanistan withdrawal one year ago, cause voters to wonder what exactly Democrats have to offer other than costly failures and no hope for tomorrow.

Democrats have enthusiastically supported Joe Biden’s costly agenda, driving inflation ever higher. The Biden agenda has resulted in higher prices, rising electric and heating bills, spiked insurance costs, unaffordable property taxes, and wages that are not keeping up.

Democrats proposed trillions of dollars in taxpayer funded government programs that will drive inflation and prices even higher, give government more control, all of which shows a complete lack of understanding for working women and men who are trying to survive. While families face ever increasing financial peril, Democrats in Hartford and Washington are watching Connecticut burn.

What have Democrats done in Connecticut? Committed criminal acts to try to win elections, stolen much needed COVID funds from taxpayers and are paying for things like parades and raises for political appointees, all while making Connecticut one of the highest taxed and most unaffordable states in the country.

Joe Biden repeatedly promised Americans making under $400,000 that they would not “pay a penny more” in taxes, and Ned Lamont promised he’d cut property taxes by $700, but as Connecticut has come to expect, Democrats are breaking those promises. Democrats have saddled us with $20 billion in new taxes, and according to the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation, Americans making as little as $20,000 per year will be hit with more Biden Tax Hikes. Ned Lamont’s answer is to raise taxes on taxpayers. It is infuriating that Democrats decided to hike taxes while we’re in a recession, all while adopting expensive legislation that will have a “negligible” effect on inflation.

Democrat spending has led to historic inflation and the “solution” offered by Lamont, Hayes, Courtney, and Blumenthal is to spend and tax more. These careless policies have left voters with an abysmal economy. Grocery prices spiked over 13% from last August, the largest increase in 43 yearsFood inflation has trended upwards for 15 straight months. Real average hourly earnings fell nearly 3 percent over the last year, marking the 17th month in a row under complete Democrat control in which inflation has outpaced wages. Because of the Democrats failures, Connecticut families paid over $700 more in August for necessities than they did the day before Joe Biden became President.

Thanks to Lamont’s fiscal incompetence, Connecticut is in the bottom half of states both for unemployment rates and jobs recovered. Democrats have failed to protect us from rising crime. In 2021, Hartford experienced its deadliest year since 2003, with 35 homicides recorded, an increase of 40% from 2020. In New Haven, there were 25 homicides in 2021 — the most in the city since 2011. Our children are literally dying in our streets and Ned Lamont has said “on crime, we’ve done what we can do here.”.

Republicans have a plan to provide greater opportunity and commonsense solutions. Bob Stefanowski and Connecticut Republicans are fully focused on cleaning up Hartford. Republicans understand that parents, not the government, should be parenting their children. Bob has proposed eliminating some 200 taxes and fees that make Connecticut unaffordable. Republicans will immediately undertake investigations into school construction, state pier, and West Haven COVID corruption scandals that have plagued our state.

We need to ask: Has our family’s financial position improved? Are we better off today than a few years ago? Can we afford to live in Connecticut? If the answer to any of these questions is no, then you are ready for a Connecticut comeback!

It’s time to fire Ned Lamont and the people who have made the decisions that have destroyed families, cities, and safety. Fire the Democrats who have raised taxes, stolen two years of students’ education and social development, and made Connecticut unaffordable for families.

To make Connecticut the envy of the nation again, there must be a new vision and direction. We need new and innovative leadership that sees beyond next week, next year, and most importantly, the next election. This November 8th, voters have a choice: continue to elect the people who have failed Connecticut and put us on the path to the bottom or elect Republicans to lead our state and put us back on the path to prosperity, freedom, and success.
