As the First Selectman of Westbrook, I have had the pleasure of working alongside State Representative Devin Carney for the past six years. He has been a staunch advocate for Westbrook residents and businesses and has always worked to ensure our voices are heard.

Devin looks out for Westbrook’s precious environmental resources and was recognized by the “Friends of Westbrook Barrier Islands” for his work supporting Salt Island, Duck Island, and Mennunketsuck Island. He was also recognized by the League of Conservation Voters as an “Environmental Champion” for his preservation efforts, which are vital to our community.

The Connecticut Marine Trades Association recently recognized him with the “Honorary Crew Member” award for his advocacy for the marine industry. The boating economy is huge in Westbrook, so it is important to our town that we have a representative that understands this and will continue to support our local marinas. Devin worked to get the sales tax reduced on boats in order to better compete with Rhode Island – this saved businesses and jobs and improved the economy.

On small town issues, you won’t find a stronger proponent than Devin. He is always seeking input and always working to prevent new municipal mandates or higher taxes. He wants towns like Westbrook to remain welcoming to residents and businesses alike. I hope Devin can count on your support this year so he can continue to be a strong voice for us in Hartford.
