I wanted to write and tell about the place my Dad lives at, Gladeview in Old Saybrook.

In March of 2016, my Dad was sent to Gladeview from the VA, we chose this place because of out of all the places we visited in Guilford, Madison and Old Saybrook, this was the cleanest! My Dad, Al Paier, suffers from COPD, Emphysema and chronic lung disease. He has the best care, great friends and most of all, he hardly has bronchitis anymore, staying there has definitely extended his life. No doubt, he would not be here if it wasn’t for Gladeview healthcare! I believe the average stay for people in nursing homes is between 2 to 3 years. He has surpassed that now.

Gladeview has no positive cases of COVID-19 with their residents and continues to test frequently. I think they should be highly commended for their vigilance in beating this virus and staying on top and doing everything to ensure the safety and wellness of the residents.

I know nursing homes have been getting a bad rap because of all the deaths, but you need to remember the people who are there are dying from other things not the virus. We haven’t seen my Dad since the beginning of March which is sad because most of these people thrive on having visitors, hopefully this will pass and things will get back to normal. Keep up the great work at Gladeview Healthcare!
