Since 2001 I have had the great fortune to live in Old Lyme, and I am now asking for your vote November 5th so that I may serve Lyme and Old Lyme on our school board.

I have a strong background to draw upon for success as a board member, including my experience as a U.S. Army Officer, a CPA and manager for KPMG Peat Marwick and as an executive director with Pfizer. All of my sons have graduated from our schools, and I am eager to give back at the board level to one of the best school regions around.

My forte is business operations encompassing both accounting and finance as well as developing strategy and project execution. I believe my experience and my work managing teams for over two decades will help our Board sustain excellence in our schools while planning ahead.

Most importantly, I will emphasize open and timely dialogue between the administrators, the Board and the taxpayers of Old Lyme for major initiatives. We must have the Town’s support as an advocate for our great schools as we continue to experience demographic changes, upcoming 20-year maintenance needs, capital spending initiatives and ever-changing social issues impacting our children.

Unfortunately, on the date of the Oct 29th meet and greet, I had long ago planned to be out of state, but please follow me on Twitter @educateLOL and/or send questions to jlmiller108@gmail.com and get out and vote!
