Tiny Pricks Project: Desperate Times, Creative Measures at Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton

Through November 24, 2024
The exhibition Tiny Pricks Project: Desperate Times, Creative Measures celebrates the remarkable global public art project initiated and curated by artist Diana Weymar. In 2018, Weymar embarked on a transformative journey by stitching the infamous words of former President Donald Trump, “I am a stable genius,” onto her grandmother’s embroidery. What began as a solitary act soon blossomed into a vibrant international movement, with thousands of contributors collectively crafting a tangible archive of Trump’s presidency and the spirited resistance it inspired.
In a political landscape fraught with uncertainty, Tiny Pricks Project offers artists and activists a potent outlet for creative expression. By harnessing the power of textiles, the Project challenges the fleeting nature of social media, imbuing each stitch with warmth, craftsmanship, permanence, civility, and a shared narrative. The delicate yet resolute nature of every piece—largely inherited and repurposes textiles—stands as a poignant counterpoint to the tumultuous era of Trump’s governance, marked by regressive policies and divisive rhetoric.
Fuller Craft Museum will present a curated selection of works from Tiny Pricks Project this autumn, in what promises to be a turbulent Presidential Election season. Through Weymar’s curation, these textiles will serve as a visual testament to her ethos of “desperate times, creative measures.”
