Striking Gold: Artists on Wealth and Worth: at The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion

October 22, 2025 – January 4, 2026
The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, in collaboration with The Artists Collective of Westport, will present, Striking Gold: Artists on Wealth and Worth, a group exhibition opening to the public on Oct. 22, 2025, 12 p.m. and running through January 4, 2026. Gallery Admission is included with purchase of guided tour.
The exhibition invites artists to reflect on the complex interplay of material possessions and their impact on daily life—then and now. During the Gilded Age, immense prosperity fueled architectural marvels, cultural innovation, and ambitious dreams, while creating vast inequalities. The iconic Lockwood-Mathews Mansion, a product of that era, serves as a tangible representation of ambition, ingenuity, and creativity.
“The exhibition is outstanding and thought-provoking,” said Trustee Gail Ingis, chair of the LMMM Contemporary Art Exhibition Committee and curator of the show. “The artwork in this exhibition invites artists as well as the viewer to reflect on the complexity and symbolism of wealth and worth and the impact they have on our emotional and material lives.”
