Slice of America: Pizza Documentary Premiere at the New Haven Museum at New Haven Museum

September 11 @ 7:00 pm

$30 – $250

The New Haven Museum and Best Video will join forces to present director Gorman Bechard and pizza historian Colin M. Caplan for the premiere screening of “Slice of America: Charred in the Florida Sun,” on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 7 p.m., preceded by a wine/beer reception at 6 p.m. with pizza bites from Pepe’s, Sally’s, and Modern. A Q&A will follow with Bechard, Caplan, and the film’s star, Jimmy Fantin. Tickets available here.

Bechard hopes to spread awareness of how New Haven-style “apizza” (pronounced: ah-beetz) is spreading all over the country. “New Haven Apizza is exploding,” he says. “There’s a proclamation in Congress that recently named New Haven the ‘Pizza Capital of the World.’”  He calls the film “a true fish-out-of-water story, or should we say, apizza-out-of-Connecticut story,” about a New Haven native with a love for the city’s beloved apizza who does the impossible by bringing the charred, thin-crusted, “best pizza in the world” to southern Florida.
