National Voter Registration Day at Connecticut’s Old State House

September 16 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join the Connecticut Democracy Center in celebrating National Voter Registration Day at Connecticut’s Old State House on September 16 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. This nationwide initiative aims to fulfill a bold and joyful mission to ensure citizens in Connecticut – and across the country are registered to vote.  No matter where you live in the state, come to Connecticut’s Old State House to check your status and join in festivities, including live music and a farmers market with local produce and Connecticut-made products.

2025 is not just an election year – it’s a year for elections! Did you know that voters nationwide will be invited to the polls to weigh in on over 100,000 state, local, county, and special elections?

Unfortunately, every year, millions of eligible voters are unable to cast a ballot because of frustrating stumbling blocks like:

  • missed deadlines
  • outdated information,
  • easily fixable paperwork problems.

Stop by Connecticut’s Old State House on September 16 to check your voting status. Don’t get caught in that vicious cycle that turns unregistered citizens into non-voters who are ignored by political campaigns and disillusioned by the electoral process.

Local government is the epicenter for the issues that are most important to all of us. Essential questions, such as law enforcement, school curricula, housing policies, public safety, tax rates, and more, are all decided by local elections.

No community is perfect. But, if you’ve ever found yourself complaining about potholes on your road, your property taxes, or lack of affordable housing, local elections are the chance for us to actually DO something.
