To the Editor:
I have lived in Old Lyme for over seven years now after retiring. It appears that the town is not a friendly place for business that supports the general public. The only way a new venture can start up in town is through the courts. The Halls Road and Shore Road business districts)have a mishmash of businesses that don’t service the general needs of the residents, except for Big Y.
Now that Walgreens is leaving the town, it gives the townspeople another reason to shop in other towns. Besides that we have very few respectable restaurants in the area.
I can only hope that the new owners of our largest shopping area on Halls Road can get through the roadblocks the Planning and Zoning Commissions have continued to set up to prevent any new general business in town. Let’s change the perception that Old Lyme is an “unfriendly business town.”
