Unfit, Unqualified and Unprepared to be Lyme’s First Selectman

To the Editor:

This isn’t partisan. As a Board of Finance member the past two years, I’ve seen firsthand David Lahm (R) and Steve Mattson (D) in action, and both have the requisite skillset and presence to be (and to have been) an effective First Selectman — our town’s daily face and CEO.

And it’s also not about being a woman. There are many qualified Lyme women who would be a fantastic First Selectman, but Christy isn’t one of them. I find it supremely arrogant that with her lack of qualifications, experience and presence she would pursue our town’s most important position, which she could never come close to — let alone be considered for — in the private sector. But if she grabs the town’s top job, it will about quadruple her secretary pay to over $80/hour; that’s a great gig, if you can get it!

Lyme voters should consider this scenario: A State of Emergency has been declared in Lyme and Governor Lamont is calling our First Selectman. Whom do you want answering his call? You want Tom St. Louis, a 37-year seasoned Pfizer executive with demonstrated high-level critical thinking, management and leadership skills.

In this race, the common-sense, low-risk choice for Lyme First Selectman is patently obvious —a no-brainer, if you like.

On November 4, I ask you to join me in putting Tom St. Louis in Lyme’s First Selectman seat. Fit, qualified and ready to serve — Tom will get the job done and done well.
