To the Editor:
I am shocked that David Rubino, Democrat, would be disappointed that David Kelsey, Republican, would help lead a fundraiser for a “national figure” (aka President of the United States) like Donald Trump. I’m sure when Mr. Kelsey reads Mr. Rubino’s letter he will see the light and start supporting whomever Mr. Rubino deems worthy.
With that said, the last paragraph of Mr. Rubino’s letter is even more hilarious than his naivete about whom Mr. Kelsey should support. It begins: “Voters deserve leaders who demonstrate sound judgment and moral independence, not those who treat loyalty to a national personality as a substitute for integrity or competence.”
Hmm. I wonder who Mr. Rubino supported in the 2024 Presidential Election? I’m going to guess initially Joe Biden, whose sound judgement (If I stayed in the race I could have won, I tell you!), moral independence (which reporter will my handlers let me call on next?), integrity (of course I’ll pardon my Son!), and competence (I killed Medicare!) were so impressive that it took a Hollywood Actor to finally convince Biden he was a shell of his former shell, had no chance to win in 2024, and he should drop out of the race. Consequently, said actor’s obedient Democrat politicians (aka national figures) quickly jumped on the “let’s throw Joe off the ticket” bandwagon. Nice! Ahh, moral independence and integrity are such virtues when you take your marching orders from famous Hollywooders, aren’t they?
Biden’s replacement, Kamala Harris, (who Rubino, Democrat, undoubtedly did vote for) has such sound judgement, moral independence and integrity that she’s out hawking her new book by blaming Biden for her loss by staying in the race too long, and also repeating to anyone who will listen that she “lost by the closest margin of any presidential election this century!” That’s totally true, but for the minor details like being swamped in the electoral college, losing by 2.6 million popular votes, and losing every critical swing state. Other than that, it was really, really close. Just ask Kamala.
If Mr. Rubino still yearns for sound judgement, integrity and moral independence, he would be wise to look elsewhere than his own party.
