Bloc Party

June 5 @ College Street Music Hall
238 College Street New Haven
8pm All Ages $64.26 – $84.26

Certain bands during the 2000s made quite a mark with their debut album, and one of those bands was the British indie rock act Bloc Party. “Silent Alarm”, which came out in February of 2005, introduced Kele Okereke’s existential lyrics and Matt Tong’s incredible drumming while unleashing the hits “Banquet” and “Helicopter”. These days, Okereke and lead guitarist Russell Lissack are the original members with Louise Bartle on drums and percussion and Harry Deacon on bass and synth, and this upcoming show is part of a tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the quartet’s stellar debut along with other hits from throughout their existence.

The Kills

June 8 @ Toad’s Place
300 York Street New Haven
8pm All Ages $48 – $59

Another band that got their start during the 2000s, The Kills have always been pushing the envelope of garage rock and post-punk ever since Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince began the project in London back in 2001. Following the release of their “Happier Girls Sessions” EP last September, the duo are going to be making a serious racket when they come through the most legendary venue in Connecticut. Glu, the solo project of Queens of The Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman, will be kicking the night off.

Samantha Fish

June 20 @ Ridgefield Playhouse
80 East Ridge Road Ridgefield
8pm All Ages $66 – $76

Very few performers can put on a show quite like the blues-rock phenom Samantha Fish. While turning the volume up as loud as possible and then some, the Kansas City native incorporates elements of rock, funk, country and bluegrass to create a unique take on the timeless style. Her latest album “Paper Doll” that came out in April is a continuation of this approach, and you can expect a few tunes from it to be played live if you decide to arrive.

Incubus

June 28 @ Mohegan Sun Arena
1 Mohegan Sun Blvd Uncasville
7pm All Ages $62 – $476

Incubus have always been a band who has stuck to their creative guns by fusing alternative and progressive rock with funk, pop and folk among other elements. Seeing this exhibited live in person is something special and I highly recommend checking it out if you don’t have any prior engagements during what will be a jam-packed weekend for live music. They’re also going to be performing their landmark album “Morning View” in its entirety, which is one of many reasons to attend.

Dispatch

June 29 @ Hartford Healthcare Amphitheatre
500 Broad Street Bridgeport
6pm All Ages $30 – $424.83

Boston roots rock act Dispatch have a new album titled “Yellow Jacket” coming out on June 6, and with all the craziness going on in the world, it seems like a good time for Chadwick Stokes and his comrades to put out a fresh batch of music. This show is part of a stacked tour in support of the release with John Butler, G. Love & Special Sauce and Donavon Frankenreiter rounding out the bill. With a lineup like this, you have to show up right at the beginning if you can.
