To the Editor:
President Biden on his inauguration gave this wonderful speech on how with his whole being he was going to unite the country. In his address he spoke about conciliation, and making sure he would work together with Republicans. “I believe the power of the Presidency and the purpose is to unite this nation, not divide it; to lift us up, not tear us apart; to be about us not about me” …This is not a land of dictators or autocrats. We are a nation of laws; of order, not chaos; but of piece, not violence.” So far, he has done anything but! From day one he did not appoint any members of the Republican Party to his cabinet as previous Presidents have done. He spent the first weeks in office reversing President Trump’s policies with a radical liberal agenda never seeking common ground. He has disregarded the whole concept of “we are a land of laws”’. He has managed to divide this country in ways that will takes years to recover from.
After his decades in the Senate, Biden knows what it means to be bipartisan. He has cultivated friendships over the years on both sides of the isle. What has changed is the Democratic Party has divided between moderates more radical faction which has split the party. President Biden’s dilemma is he cannot find common ground within his own party let alone with the Republicans. He has moved so far to the left he has done irreparable damage. While Trump has not been President for more than a year, the administration, the Democratic Party, and the liberal media continue to persecute him. This divide becomes more polarizing through social media’s liberal views. That only works for a short period of time.
What the Biden Presidency must overcome is Trump’s policies helped the country on many fronts. Things were better for all Americans. So far, Biden’s policies are failing the country on many fronts hurting most Americans. Yet he persists being prodded on by Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi to attain unrealistic goals resulting in failure after failure.
Trump was an authoritarian. He was also obnoxious narcissist who could not keep his mouth shut and people hated him for it. As it turns out much of the attacks on Trump over the Russian collusion (that went on for four years) as we are finding out more and more was fake news. Now the Democrats and the liberal media are relentless in their accusations that he incited the January 6, insurgence on the Capitol. Other than a group of radical right-wing activists who did participate, this pursuit against Trump will go nowhere. Furthermore, calling conservatives who supported Trump, “domestic terrorists” only serves to divide the country even more.
Although Biden has not proven to be an obnoxious narcissist, he has taken an authoritarian role as President. He shifted from being moderate taking his lead from the left of his party. You would think the Chief Executive of the United States would surround himself with the best and the brightest. So far the advice he has received from his cabinet and his Vice President have fallen short. Because of it, he has lost all credibility. He cannot even get his own party to agree on what is best for the country. We have a two party system with two different views of political, racial, and moral intolerance. Until both parties can agree on what the value of government is the country will remain divided.
