It’s no secret that affordable childcare is hard to attain for many Connecticut residents. This is not new issue, it’s something we have faced for a very long time without resolution. The recent pandemic has only exacerbated an already difficult situation. Without assistance, it is estimated that as many as 50% of childcare centers could be closed by the end of the year, making an impossible situation for working parents, and especially single parents.

Christine Goupil, a working mother, is dedicated to improving Equity, Environment, and Economy. She understands that to create a more equitable community, we must have affordable quality childcare available for all working parents. Furthermore, Christine is an ardent supporter of universal pre-k education. She has stated that it “is critical to eliminating our state’s long-standing inequities in public education and finally closing the learning gap”.

As someone who works for a non-profit that is dedicated to helping youth succeed, I have seen first-hand the benefits of pre-k education. Our children’s future, and our state’s future, depend on providing children with the education and tools to help them succeed from a very early age.

Christine’s priorities are solidly in line with what we need in Hartford to improve our communities. I urge you to vote Goupil in November and together we can make a change.
