OLD LYME — Just hours after confirmation of a third case of COVID-19 in Old Lyme, a fourth case has been confirmed tonight by Stephen Mansfield, director of health for Ledge Light Health District.
The new case is a 53-year-old female, according to a text from Mansfield to CT Examiner at about 7:30 p.m.
Earlier in the afternoon, First Selectman Tim Griswold sent a town alert email confirming that
Ledge Light Health District had identified a second and third case of COVID-19 in Old Lyme.
The new cases were a 21-year-old female and a 27-year-old male, said Griswold by phone. He said he had no further information about the identity of the confirmed cases.
“It is safe to assume that the actual number of residents with this illness is much larger,”
Griswold said in his town-wide email.
Five days ago, on March 29, the first case of COVID-19 in Old Lyme was identified.
Griswold said the town will closely monitor the situation and has participated in teleconferences with Gov. Lamont’s office. He also urged residents to turn to the resources provided by the town for help and encouraged all citizens to follow social distancing and handwashing protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
